A brand new park for Ballard!

Groundswell NW and Seattle Parks have had their eyes on this property, belonging to the Seventh Elect Church in Israel, for nearly 18 years.

Thankfully, the property owners wanted to keep this property out of the hands of developers, and have allowed Seattle Parks has purchased this 0.9 acre site to turn it into a new park: Ballard Park

On May 4th, 2008, there was a "picnic in the new park" to discuss possible names for this park, what should be developed, and what should be left alone.

Since this park is very near the residence of my friend Nevcowpok, I went to the picnic and voted to name the park:

Nevcowpok Park!

7.15.10 Buildings have been demolished and cache moved to a new location. Do not disturb any vegetation or turn over any objects in pursuit of this cache.

The park has been named "Kirke Park". Kirke means church in Norwegian. This name pays tribute to both the Norwegian heritage of the neighborhood and the history of the site.
