Fjøsnastødl


Berre eit stølshus står att/One Cabin is still standing

På vegen opp til stølen passerer vi ruinane av husmannsplassen Viki. Her var mange hus, og plassen hadde mølle ved Mjelkåi. Husmannsplassen vart utsagd og måtte avslutte drifta i 1942. Deretter måtte han riva husa og forlata plassen. Dei mange grunnmurane og restar av steinmura gjerde, vitnar om at det har vore lagt ned mange tunge arbeidsøkter i desse bratte bakkane, i ein seig kamp for å overleva.
På Fjøsnastølen:
Fin utsikt over Lusterfjorden og fjella på sørsida av fjorden. I aust ser vi grenda Optun og fjelltoppen Fanaråken. Ruinar etter ein gammal støl. Eitt stølshus står enno. Som namnet seier er dette stølen til grenda Fjøsne. Stølen ligg berre eit stykke oppe i lia, og vart nytta som vår- og hauststøl. Den gamle ferdavegen mellom Skjolden og Luster gjekk forbi stølen og vidare over Ørnskaret mot Ottane. Nede ved fjorden var det uråd å komma fram på grunn av urer og berg som gjekk loddrett i fjorden. På yttersida av stølen renn Mjelkåi. Elva kjem direkte frå høgfjellet ovanfor stølen, og kan ha fått namnet sitt fordi vatnet vart nytta til å kjøla mjølka på varme sommardagar. Om vinteren når det vesle vatnet som var i elva fraus, vart elvefaret nytta til å løypa tømmer frå skogen ned til fjorden. Det var ellers ei større tømmerløyft lenger ute.

Cachen
Cachen er en militær matboks med Geocache-sticker. Den inneheld loggbok, blyant og nokre bytteting.

Du kan parkera på rasteplassen ved vegen (Rv55, Waypoint PA) og følge merka sti til stølen

Ørneskaret/The Eagels pass

On our way to the summer farm, we pass foundations of a tenant's farm at Vikji. Once there were many buildings here, and the farm had a mill by the brook. The tenant had to leave the farm in 1942. The houses where torn down. The many foundations and stone fences tell us of many days of hard work in these steep hills and mountains in a tough battle for survival.
At Fjøsnastølen:
Nice view of the Luster fjord and the mountains on the south side of the fjord. To the east we see the Fanaråken mountain (2068 m.a.sl.) and beneath it the tiny Optun hamlet. At Fjøsnastølen (støl=summer farm) there are remains of several old buildings from the time when the summer farm was i operation. One cabin is still standing. As the name implies this is a summer farm (N:støl or seter) for the farms at Fjøsne. The summer farm is only a short way from the main farms, and was only in use in spring and autumn. The Fjøsnane farms also had summer farms higher up in the mountains for use in the summer time. The old path from Skjolden to Luster went past this summer farm, and from here it went through Ørnskaret (The Eaglepass) on the way to Ottane. At this point the cliffs rise steeply from the fjord, so it was not possible to make a path further down. On the west side of Fjøsnastølen there is a small brook called Melkåi (The milk-brook). The brook brings water from the mountains above, and it may have got its name because the cold water was used to cool the milk. Ther were a timberway to th fjord further west.

The Cache
The Cache is a military food container with Geocache-sticker. The Cache contains loggsheet, pencil and some small trading items.

You can park by the road (Rv55, Waypoint PA) and follow the signs to the summer farm
