This cache has been archived.

LZ33: Since this geocache has been unavailable for months, I'm archiving the listing to keep it from showing up in search lists and preventing proximity issues for new geocache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the geocache in the immediate future, contact a volunteer reviewer (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll un-archive it.

Geocache Description:

Coordinates take you to the west side of the center spire.
Position your right eye directly in front of the hole in the spire. (You will be looking east.)
Close your left eye. You will be looking directly at where the cache is hidden.
If you don't care for the "Indiana Jones" approach. The direct coordinates are in the hint.

This is the 3rd attempt at hiding a cache at the Georgia Guidestones. Hence "Version 3.0".

This is a very interesting place that really deserves a cache.

I'm confident I can make it work. There has been a letterbox there for quite some time.

PLEASE... ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU PLACE THE CACHE BACK EXACTLY WHERE YOU FIND IT!!! Hide it well for others to find.

I borrowed the description below from my brother, PreacherDan.

The Guidestones were placed on this spot 28 years ago. They were financed by a man with the admitted pseudonymn "R.C. Christian". He claimed to represent a large group of people concerned about the future of humanity.

The Guidestones have created a great deal of controversy to some, while being merely an interesting stop on the side of the road to others. Reports of UFOs and other strange activities have been offered for the site, yet these must be considered myths due to lack of evidence.

You will have to decide for yourself...

The following is an excerpt from Wikipedia -
The Georgia Guidestones are a huge granite artifact located on a hilltop in Elbert County (highest point in the county), Georgia, USA. It is sometimes referred to as the "American Stonehenge," a title that has been applied at times to a number of other structures. A message comprising ten guides is inscribed on the structure in eight modern languages, and a shorter message is inscribed at the top of the structure in four ancient scripts: Babylonian, Classical Greek, Sanskrit, and Egyptian Hieroglyphs. The artifact is almost twenty feet tall, and made from six granite slabs that weigh more than 100 tons in all. One slab stands in the center, with four arranged around it. A capstone lies on top of the five slabs, which are astronomically aligned. An additional stone tablet, which is set in the ground a short distance to the west of the structure, provides some clarifying notes on the history and purpose of the Guidestones.

Read the "writing on the wall" and see what you think about the message of the Guidestones. On a clear day, look north to see the mountains. Come back at night with your telescope - usually good place for star gazing.
