Parking on roadside at N50 24.340 W004 51.848. English Nature reserve, home of the Marsh Fritillary butterfly, Dragonflies and Damselflies. A level track which can be muddy in wet weather. Not suitable for pushchairs or wheel chairs. A nice 25 minutes walk to the cache with other walks over the Goss Moor if you wish to explore.
Be aware, cows roam freely on the track and sometimes in the road.
Small 500ml click and lock box with the usual small goodies and coin of the realm for FTF. Hopefully I'll be placing more caches in the area in the next few weeks.
Travel express TB ready to start it's journey.
Sand extraction from Goss Moor started in the 1920s for a small block making works. The demand for concrete blocks increased in 1939 as a result of military construction projects at RAF St Mawgan, St Eval,St Trebelzue and Perranporth. A rough estimate is that over one million yards of sand and gravel was excavated from Goss Moor over a five year period. The only evidence of the industry now are the sand extraction and storage silos near the cache and the large pools of water at the pit sites. The buildings were last used in the 1940s.
Well done Janpe FTF
