Priblizne devet kilometru jihovychodne od Zatce se na okraji
obce Tuchorice nachazi prirodni pamatka Miocenni sladkovodni
vapence, ktera je svou geologickou a paleontologickou hodnotou
zcela vyjimecna.
Predmetem ochrany teto prirodni pamatky je geologicky profil
souvrstvi sladkovodnich vapencu miocenniho stari o delce 300m a
vysce az 25 m s vyznamnym paleontologickym obsahem, ktery je svou
rozsahlosti jediny v ramci Ceske republiky.
V teto oblasti se v obdobi asi pred 20 mil. lety, oznacovanem jako
miocen (mladsi tretihory), vyskytovaly mineralizovane prameny, ze
kterych vznikaly vapenite usazeniny. Soucasti usazenin se stala i
tehdejsi flora a fauna. Miocenni vapence proto obsahuji mnozstvi
fosilnich zbytku suchozemskych i vodnich plzu vzacne i rostlin.
V suti pod lomovou stenou lze nalezt zkameneliny temer v
kazdem kameni (staci jen dobre koukat), a proto neni treba lamat
kamen primo ze steny a nicit tuto pamatku. Samozrejmosti je zakaz
sberu zkamenelin bez povoleni Ministerstva zivotniho prostredi v
teto chranene lokalite!
Tato lokalita byla vyhlasena prirodni pamatkou Miocenni
sladkovodni vapence dne 2. 12. 1983 na plose 1,75 ha. Chranene
uzemi je pristupne po ceste od silnice na Lipno na severovychodnim
okraji obce, dostanete se k nemu, když projdete ulickou pri domech
na konci obce.
Nedaleko se nachazi dalsi prirodni pamatka „Travertinova kupa",
ktera je vyznamnym paleontologickym nalezistem s vyskytem
kosternich zbytku tretihornich obratlovcu, mekkysu a subtropickych
vyssich rostlin. Chranene uzemi se nachazi na jihovychodnim okraji
Tuchoric u silnice na Markvarec.

At the edge of the village Tuchorice lays natural monument the
freshwater miocene carbonates, approximately 9 kilometers SE from
Zatec.
The object of the preservation is the geological profile of the
strata of freshwater carbonates of miocene age with its 300 meters
length and 25 meters higth with important paleontological
content.
20 mil. years ago (in miocene) occured in this area mineralized
springs, from which rised carbonated sediments. Then flora and
fauna were part of it. That is why the freshwater miocene
carbonates contains the amount of fossilized rests of terrestrial
and water animals (slugs) and plants.
In the debris you can find fossils in every stone (you have
to look very closely!) but you are not allowed to quarry it from
the profile. Of course you are not allowed to collect the
fossils!
This area was proclaimed as the natural monument in 1983 and is
accessible by the way from the route to Lipenec at the southeastern
edge of the village Tuchorice.
Not far from this place is another important paleontological
locality „the pile of travertine“.
