Within a few feet of trail – remember to minimize the signs of your passing!
Something to think about as you make your way through the forest toward a cache with a theme of Peace Love and Happiness in any language: If one is entering the Huckleberry Hill Nature Preserve via the recommended route then the Presidio of Monterey will be to the right as one trudges up the Stairway to the Stars. One may hear students of the Defense Language Institute in the nearby dormitories. This is an entire military installation dedicated to learning the languages of other peoples – for militaristic purposes. It is my sincere wish that we would make an equal effort toward learning other people’s languages for friendly purposes – because just like Miss Congeniality – I really do want World peace.
There was formerly a shiny token with a “Peace, Love & Happiness” theme which could be had as a small reward for finding a cache in this series. The custom-made tokens may still be found in “Peace, Love & Happiness” caches from time to time. If you find a cache which has more than one of the collectible tokens then kindly take only one! The tokens are meant as a souvenir for folks who have made at least a short trek to find a “Peace, Love & Happiness“ cache.
You are looking for a small “signature” container hidden very near the trail. Depending on which trails you choose you may pass signs for Opossum Road, Boar Trail, or Wild Boar Trail. No need to bushwhack or venture into the Poison Oak.
