It seems to me that we've had a proliferation of new caches placed very close to each other, and for a variety of reasons without much opportunity for interaction with the big wide world around us. This cache is an attempt to broaden our collective horizions.
March 21, 2003 Update. The container has been replaced!
"So Near, So Far" is within five miles of a number of popular caches, and within two miles of a couple, yet you will have some travel ahead of you to reach it. There is a mile hike from the nearest legal parking, as well as the potential for an entry fee. The container is a standard Ammo Box, with a Camo paint job. At the time of placement it contained:
- A Bag of Balloons,
- A Pack of Emergency Candles from Fire It Up,
- A Tire Chain Tightener,
- A Pair of Binoculars,
- An Auburn State Recreation Area Topo Map,
- A Mini Manicure Set,
- Buzz Buzzby, a Traveller from Triple Digit Heat,
- A Mini Screwdriver Set,
- A Barrel of Monkeys from Treasure Island,
- A Packet of California Poppy Seeds,
- An X-Brain YoYo from Puzzle Cache Scavenger Hunt,
- A OSH Flashlight,
- A sheet of Bug Stickers,
- A Foam Globe, and finally,
- A small but somehow adequate jar of Lip Balm.
As well as the requisite Log Book, Writing Implements, Sharpener for Same, GeoCaching Notice, and Camera.
