Geocache Description:

Located on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus, this cache is a small match container with only a logscroll and pencil. Just in case, BYOP!

Daniel Greysolon, Sieur du Lhut (c. 1639 – 25 February 1710) was a French soldier and explorer who is the first European known to have visited the area where the city of Duluth is now located and the headwaters of the Mississippi River near Grand Rapids. His name is sometimes anglicized as "DuLuth" and is the namesake of Duluth, Minnesota.
This great big statue was unveiled in 1965, as the will of Albert L. Ordean, a prominent Duluth banker and civic leader, specified that a fund be dedicated to erect “a fine, artistic bronze statue” of Daniel Greysolon Sieur du Lhut, the French explorer after whom the city was named, “to be made by some sculptor of note.”
The cache is a camo matchstick container. GPS is mostly inaccurate in this location, so I've made it pretty easy and provided a hint too. Make sure you hide it as well or better than when you found it!! There are thousands of muggles on campus every day, so be discrete! The best time to get this cache will be in the early morning or evening after 5, to avoid massive amounts of people.
Parking will be an issue. There is a pay lot near the cache location which is $1.75, so if you plan on parking in the pay lot, plan on getting some more caches in the area to make use of your money! There are also meters scattered across campus, but they are scarce. Meters are free after 6:30. UMD parking enforcement is diligent, and chances are you will get a ticket (which is enforced by the city) if you park unlawfully. If you live in town, consider taking the DTA to campus. Many routes go through campus many times a day, every day of the week, with a little less on weekends.
As always, enjoy the cache!
