Geocache Description:

This Cache is located on Alton’s Creek in The North Landing River Natural Area Preserve.  The land around this cache is protected so please do not try to approach by land.  Permission for this cache was graciously provided by The Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The North Landing River is Virginia's largest natural area preserve. It is almost entirely comprised of wetland communities, five of which are rare in Virginia. Especially notable is the pocosin community, a habitat type that is fast disappearing from the southeastern United States. Pocosins are characterized by tangled masses of dense shrubs and vines with a scattered pond pine overstory. This unique wetland community and the forested swamps and freshwater tidal marshes of the lower North Landing River support at least 11 rare species of plants and animals. The area also provides important habitat for breeding and wintering waterfowl.

This cache is accesible by canoe or kayak.  The closest place to launch for this trip is at the end of Old Pungo Ferry Road.  The trip to the cache is a little over 3 miles each way.

No buschwacking is required or desired.

2 unactivated geocoins are available for the first 2 people to visit my cache.

Congratulations to Lego Fans for the FTF.
