Geocache Description:

GO-GO-GO-ANNA

A cache for those who like a challenging day walk or an overnight bush walk.

Located in the Brisbane Forest Park, GO-GO-GO-ANNA is a long and strenuous walk.

WARNING: steep climbs and descents. DO NOT attempt this walk in hot weather or on days of high fire danger. Carry plenty of water, at least 3 to 4 litres in winter and DOUBLE that in the warmer seasons. England Creek is a reliable source of water, but it must be treated before drinking.

This walk gives you a few options. It can be done as a walk in and out along one of two routes, or better yet as a loop walk. Any option will take you along the scenic fire trails that spread out into the more remote regions of the Brisbane Forest Park to the west of Mt Glorious. Starting in the rainforest the scenery quickly changes to drier eucalypt forest as you descend into the England Creek valley far below. Along the creek you will find clear waterholes and lush vegetation.

Early morning is the best time to start this walk so as to take advantage of the early morning cool. Birdlife abounds along the trail. Rainforest species such as catbirds and wompoos welcome you at the start, then as you descend the bell birds become almost deafening. Further down and wrens and fantails become common sights. Of course there are goannas and their reptilian relatives the pythons and snakes along the way, too .

All trails to and from the cache are well maintained fire trails. The cache is hidden at the England Creek bush campsite. So this cache can be found either as a day walk or as part of an overnight hike. Advice, information on this area and campsite information and bookings can be found at the epa.qld website.

Below are listed the waypoints for the two starting points at the end of either Joyners Ridge Road or Lawton Road. There is an excellent bush walking trail through the rainforest that connects these two starting points located about 100metres into the rainforest from the Mt Glorious Road. If considering the loop walk option I suggest parking near one of the access points and taking this trail first, while you can still enjoy it ! Thus avoiding the dreaded trudge back to the car later.

This cache can also be found by mountain bike, but remember, what goes down must come up!

A slightly easier access may be possible from the Fernvale - Somerset Dam Rd along England Creek Rd, but I cannot confirm that suspicion.

For anyone wanting further information email me. I have Gpx, and Kmz files of the loop walk.
