Geocache Description:

Just a quick stop about four miles north of Chemult, OR along Hwy. 97. Nothing fancy, just a waterproof match container located adjacent to the junction of NFD Road 94 and Hwy. 97 designed for the road warriors who don't always have an hour to search, but like to get out to stretch their legs from time to time.

There is plenty of room to pull most vehicles completely off the road. Be sure to bring you own writing utensil and cover the spot if needed to help preserve the hide. Be sure to check out the other caches in the local area or venture up the hill to see the historic Walker Mountain Lookout. The original stone and wood cabin on Walker Mountain - the site of one of the first four permanent lookouts on the Deschutes National Forest (Oregon) - was built in 1917 and a garage was added in 1934. Both are intact and maintained. The 35' steel tower with hip-roof L-4 14'x14' cab with catwalk was constructed in 1932. Congratulations to Logscaler & Red for the FTF on 5/11/08!
