Geocache Description:

Located at the Iliniwek Village State Historic Site.

A quick grab or take the short walk to archaeological site where the site of a longhouse can be viewed. Iliniwek means "we are men" and was eventually converted into Illinois. The Illinois Indians occupied this village in 1673 when it was visited by Jolliet and Marquette but abandoned it around 1677. A guided tour can be arranged.
