Located at the end of Harbor View Drive in a small park featuring a great view of Tacoma, Pt. Defiance, Vashon Island and the Gig Harbor Lighthouse. When the mountain is out, (If you're a WA state resident, you know what I mean!) there is a great view of it as well!

Originally placed by Blind Umpire in 2003, this cache has been an icon for Gig Harbor Cachers ever since. This muggle-dense area calls for patience and stealth, and may require multiple visits due to lingering muggles.
The view is worth every trip, however. The pilings from the old ferry dock are visible in the water not far from the viewpoint, and there are historical markers with interesting facts to learn. I make regular visits there either walking or taking pictures of the different moods of NW sunrises and Mount Rainier. Watch fishing boats, yachts, kayaks, etc. come and go from the harbor entrance. Keep an eye out for herons, cormorants, terns, Canada geese and the occasional harbor seal or bald eagle.
There are also several benchmarks visible from this spot. See if you can spot them!
Just as in the original cache, the coordinates will put you in the middle of the little park by the largest round flower planter. The cache is within 40 feet of the planter, and not in any of the plantings. The cammoed container is visible if you are standing within line of sight of it.
April 8th, 2013-Persistent muggling required me to abandon the old hiding spot and change the cammo significantly, but the cache is still within a few feet of the original hiding spot. Although the hide doesn't have the same serendipity as the original spot, it should still present plenty of challenge in the spirit of the original hide and keep bringing cachers to this great spot.
