Rainbow Six - Operation Travel Bug
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Located on a little known nature trail known as "The Sassafras". The cache is on public property in a nature preserve that is adjacent to a municipal golf course. We found our first multi here and would like to give credit to the archived "Sassafras Cache" (GCJ9GV) for completely hooking us on to Geocaching.
The trail is well defined but needs maintanance in spots. You must cross a small stream in two locations (I've never had trouble, there are enough rocks) and cache locations are off trail. Less than 1 mile round trip.
Parking is near trailhead at: N42 57.363 W074 12.433 This is also the parking area for a nice playground known as "Sassafras Safari". We bring our kids here often so look out for us, you will be able to add a TB find if you do.
This cache is set up to be a Travel Bug trade only. If you do not have one to trade with, take one anyway. I can keep this well stocked.
You will be looking for a 2 part Multi, both consisting of ammo canisters. Due to the topography of the preserve, GPS readings can be iffy. At the first location, instructions are given on how to obtain the cooridates for the final. Plenty of clues are given on site to compensate for rough satalite readings.
NOTE:
Upon entering the trail, you will encounter a fork about 50' in. The trail to the left is much easier to navigate.
NOW FOR THE FUN PART.
RAINBOW SIX : OPERATION TRAVEL BUG
This cache is based loosely on the novel Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy.
Several NATO countries have collectively organized an elite counterterrorist unit, composed of the best soldiers from the militaries of several nations, named Rainbow. Led by John Clark, Rainbow is "blacker than black", its American funding directed through the Department of the Interior by Capitol Hill, then through The Pentagon's Office of Special Projects, with no connection whatsoever to the Intelligence Community. Fewer than a hundred people in Washington, D.C. know that Rainbow exists.
OPERATION TRAVEL BUG
A terrorist cell has raided a local teleportation facility. This facility is known to accomidate a unique form of traveler often referred to as a Travel Bug. At 06:00 the cell brazenly invaded this facilty and took several of the Travel Bugs hostage. A list of expected hostages will be generated and updated to the right of this page. The idenitys and number of terrorist is still unknown. Eyewinesses accounts estimate between 6-8 enemy personnel. At 07:00 a call came in demanding a ransom. This call came in from a cell phone and we were able to triangulate the callers location.
Your team is being dispatched to the following coordiantes N 42 57.433 W 74 12.719. Your mission is free the travel bugs using any means neccessary. The president has given this mission top priority.
Remember, the only thing that can be expected on these missions... is the unexpected.
