Geocache Description:

Ammo box Cache in a remote location where the weather can change quickly. Take the normal precautions. It can take between 2 to 4 hours, depending on photo stops and sandwich breaks.

Park at Hafren Forest Car Park (OS Landranger Map 136, Grid SN 858 869, then follow the sign posts and paths along the Seven Tail up to the Source of the River Severn, of course stopping at the Source of the Severn to have a look and to take photos. Carry on up the track a bit further, till you come to a fence line, climb over the stile. On your left is a small mountain lake with no name. The cache is in a raised mount of peat, overlooking the lake. When you've grabbed the cache you can go up to the cairn (Carnfachbugeilen)and if weather permits, you will have fantastic views over the Pumplumon Range.

We put the rating at 3.5 because the weather is normally very wet, windy, cloudy and it is hard to see more than a few meters in front of you. The terrain around the cache could be quite boggy if it has rained recently. When we placed the cache it was the first time we had good weather (we've been up there a few times). Nice weather is good, but in bad weather with the right gear it's an experience to be in the elements.
"Well done to the tregynon doodlebugs for the FTF!"
