Historic Georgia Geocaching Series #1

This is the first in a series of Historic Georgia caches. This cache is near what used to be the city of Fairplay. These caches will lead the geocacher to some history of the local area, usually in the form of an information board. However, no information board exists for Fairplay. The next two Historic Georgia Caches will be multis; but, this one is a drive by micro.

The fields around Fairplay, Georgia are now void of cotton, but years ago the fields would be as white as snow in September and October. The cotton bolls would open to let the white fluffy cotton burst out and color the rolling and flat land of Fairplay. Then came the Boll Weevil. The cotton fields are no more and the nearby cotton mills in Monroe and Social Circle are sitting idle, the cotton gins at Fairplay, Bostwick and Madison are no more, another era gone by.

We have often driven by the spot where the final cache is hidden. Today we decided to stop and realized it was a great place for a geocache.
