Geocache Description:

Happy Mother's Day 2008!

For the last few years now, Mum and I have gotten up early Sunday morning, not for breakfast in bed, but to walk 7 kilometres around the Torrens Lake. The Mother's Day Classic is a wonderful event and I strongly encourage you all to give it a try next Mother's Day.

As part of the event, every participant is given a 'goodie bag'. The newspaper, vouchers, information leaflets, food samples, pens and pencils. Last year we got crossword books. This year we got Tupperware. We hadn't left Pinky Flat before I'd poured some of my (free) water on the seal to check if it was watertight. Who wants to use it for sandwiches?

And so the idea of a Mother's Day cache was born. Where to go? My Mum is a born and bred Valley girl. Grandma was settled with her many brothers and sisters in Light Pass after the war. It was here she spent her teenage years, working at the Willows and later at the Cannery. She would wear herself out pedaling as fast as she could past this place at night. Many years later she was married in the church. In fact the majority of her siblings were married here also. My mum and her siblings were christened in this church, as were many of her cousins. It is a part of our family.

And so we agreed that with so much of my mother's and my grandmother's history attached to this tiny town and the old church, there was no better place for a Mother's Day cache.

We love the Valley, and we love Light Pass.
I hope you do too.
