Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of well caches around Aberdeen. (See The Gibberie Wallie Well for the story of the wells......)

This well was originally located on a grassy bank (on property once owned by the Knights of St. John) which led down from the bottom of Skene Row, across Skene Street, to Upper Denburn. It was until the 18th Century, one of the main sources of water for the Gilcomston area. Due to slum clearances in 1955 it was removed to 24 Albyn Place where it was rebuilt by the successors of the Knights of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem (1124-1563) It is situated outside the private Albyn Hospital. Cache is a very small click shut tube.. Accuracy was only 18ft, perhaps due to surrounding buildings.
