This cache is part of a series of wells around Aberdeen. (See The Gibberie Wallie Well for a history lesson...)

Fountainhall played an important part in Aberdeen Water Supply. It was connected by leaden pipes from Castle Street, which was then moved to The Green where supply proved inadequate.Cistern Houses or fountain-houses were built at intervals to collect the water. The Fountainhall Well was removed in 1903 and re-erected in the Duthie Park where, for a time it did it's duty as a well. It can be seen in the Riverside Drive car park. New Well, June 2013.......
