Geocache Description:

North Louisiana has many tree farms, and this cache is located close to the Boyd Tree Farm. "Tree farming" was first used in the 1940's to introduce the public to sustainable forestry terminology they could easily understand--farming implies continual stewardship and production of goods year after year. The first tree farm was begun in 1941 in Washington State, and its purpose was to demonstrate sound forest management practices to area landowners. Tree farms contain many different stages of forest regeneration, from seedlings to mature timber.

Louisiana forests cover over 14 million acres, about half of Louisiana’s land area. Louisiana is known as the Sportsman’s Paradise, and one reason is the activities associated with forests—wildlife habitat, recreational opportunity, and scenic beauty.

The cache is a large lock and lock container with small trade items.

Congratulations to shastaman for being FTF!
