Poustinia Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
From the Spain trailhead, expect a vertical gain of 1,100 ft to reach the cache at 7,300 ft. The final portion of the hike involves a steep climb along a poorly defined rocky path.
The cache is a small official Geocaching container. There are a few goodies inside and a reward for FTF.
Trail #305 heads east, and #365 breaks north. Another 0.4 mi brings you to a Y; bear left. After a further 0.14 mi, there is a3-way junction. From here continue east and up. After 0.55 mi turn south, continuing past the Joshua stone. Keep heading south and up, past many boulders, including a large one with bright green lichen.
The Joshua stone is a good landmark for hiking up and especially for coming down. (It is easy to head off to the east side of the ridge.)
One could expect lots of snakes in this area, but I saw nary a one! Take some time to enjoy the site and be thankful.
