Kymlinge är spökstationen i Stockholms tunnelbana.
Stationen byggdes tillsammans med resterande delar av linje 11 till
Akalla i början på 1970 talet. Man hade planer på
att bebygga området runt stationen med en blandning av
kontorbyggnader och bostäder eller endast ett stort antal
kontorbyggnader till mestadels statliga verk. Planerna blev aldrig
verklighet pga att Sundbybergs kommun, där Kymlinge ligger,
ville behålla det som grönområde. Där ligger
nu stationen i skogen mellan Hallonbergen och Kista, med halva
perrongen i dagen och halva under jord, halvklar -- och väntar
på tåg som kanske aldrig kommer att stanna.
Historier om stationen har uppkommit. Historierna sammanfaller
med historierna om tunnelbanevagnarna ”C5” eller
"Silverpilen" som den också fick heta, varav endast
åtta levererades. C5:orna var helt silverfärgade till
skillnad från från resten av vagnparken vilken har
varit grön eller blå (de nya C20 är också
delvis i silver, men C5:an var helt i silver.) Silverpilen sades
vara spöktåget som tog personer till Kymlinge station
för att aldrig mer ses igen. De sades att -- Bara de döda
stiger av i Kymlinge...

Kymlinge is Stockholm subway's "ghost station." It was built
along with the rest of line 11 to Akalla in the early 1970s, when
there were serious plans to develop the area around the station
with either a mix of housing and offices, or with a very large
number of offices, mostly federal agency offices. These plans never
came to fruition because the municipality of Sundbyberg, where
Kymlinge station is located, wanted to keep the area as green
space. So there you have this station, between Hallonbergen and
Kista, with its platform lying half in tunnel and half in the open,
half ready for service -- but trains might never stop there.
Legends about this station have developed. They were connected
with the legends about the subway cars of type "C5" or
"Silverarrow", of which only eight were delivered; the C5 cars were
silver, unlike the rest of the fleet, which is green and blue. (The
new C20 cars are also partly silver on the outside, but the C5s
were entirely silver.) The Silverarrow was said to be a ghost train
that took on passengers who were never seen again, and who later
got off at Kymlinge. it was said -- only the dead get off at
Kymlinge...
