Geocache Description:

There's a reason it's called Mt. Tire'm.

This is the first of 4 seasonal caches to be placed in the Lakes Region of Maine. The cache is hidden on Mt. Tire'm in Waterford. It's a pleasant walk up the Daniel Brown Trail. The trail is a little steep at first but it's not a long walk, a little over a mile round trip; it should take a little less than an hour (50 minutes to get up, 10 to get back down) minus the time you spend loitering at the top. There are nice views out on the granite ledges, so be sure to bring a camera. A trail head is on Plummmer Hill Road just past the Wilkins Community Center.

You will find a small Sterlite cache, so bring small items for exchange if you so desire. It started with 2 keychains, 2 Matchbox cars, a small deck of cards, a small Play-doh and a mini tennis ball. With the logbook included I had a hard time closing the container (although the keychains and cars were still in their original packages so they took up some extra room).

This cache was originally placed last year by the Thodinators but was disallowed because of the distance to their home area, so it overwintered untouched. We went to check it before we reincarnated it, and it was uncovered and opened. Apparently some muggles found it and left a granola bar - he/she must have been a muggles who figured out how this worked, because they wrote a note in the log and said all they had was a granole bar to leave. Other than that it was good to go so I re-covered it (better this time I hope). As such, that person will not be considered TFTF, nor will the Thodinators who went on the checking visit (and they just want credit for the find).

GEOCACHER GEMS: I would like to make a list of geocacher characteristics on my profile page (I started off with one of my own when looking for a micro); please send me a message with some odd geocacher characteristic and if I like it I will add it to the list. Thanks!

Congratulations to willmere on FTF!
