Geocache Description:

His cache can be found in the pretty small town of Adare, south of Limerick.

Adare is a tidy town south of Limerick on the road to NewCastleWest. It is nice to walk through the town, the Willage park across the Heritage Center, and the park of the Adare Manor or you can also take a walk along the river Maigue. Adare also has three medieval Abbies.

The name Adare comes from the Irish for Ford by the Oak. The ancient Irish were Celts, and they followed the Druidic traditions and religion.

The main tenet of the Druidic religion was the veneration of the Oak Tree, which was considered to be the "Tree of Life" - the spiritual link between life-giving earth and mankind; a belief that was shared by the ancient Greeks and Romans.

There is also a castle, the Desmond Castle Adare. As the Normans arrived around the year 1200, Geoffrey De Marsico was their leader. He was given money by Henry III, King of England and ordered to build a castle beside the river Maigue.

The castle changed hands a few times over the centuries and was finally destroyed to Cormwellian troups in the 17th century.

Today, the castle ruins can be visited via a guided tour from the Hertiage Center.

The initial content of the cache is:
- Logbook & Pencil
- small game
- gogo's
- magic paper
- 2 old Irisch coins

Good luck seeking the cache. You should be able to reach it without too much effort.
