Geocache Description:

This is the second cache placed at the Jordan's Point park. Caches are at opposite ends of the park.

Jordan's Point Park is located on an island and peninsula formed by the Maury River, Woods Creek, and an old mill race, complete with picnic tables, walking trails, and canoe launch. It was designated as a point on Virginia's Civil War Trails program for visitors to observe where Union General Hunter crossed into Lexington after shelling it in June of 1864.

For native Lexington families, Jordan's point takes on many meanings. For me, it was my very first starting point in my geocaching experiences, heading toward VMI. I have watched fireworks on the 4th from the field, and photographed birds and other wildlife while on walks. For some, it is a place for family gatherings, parties, and reunions in the covered picnic area. Others launch canoes and kayaks into the Maury from this site. Jordan's Point is a place of loss and reflection for others, where lives have been lost in the turbulent waters of the dam.

All agree that the beauty and sense of community in this place is rich and alive. Find your own memories in the space at Jordan's Point and enjoy your hunt.

This cache is located near the picnic area of the park. There is no need to get near the water to retrieve the cache, a small plastic container. Original contents include a stamp from Egypt, coin from Aruba, Krispy Kreme hat, spanish matchbox, "diamond", mardi gras beads, bobblehead, logbook and pencil, Tortilla Jack TB, and a $10 FTF card from Walmart. Close the lid well and replace the container just out of view.

This area is ALWAYS busy so keep an eye out for muggles. This will be a challenge, but well positioned, the cache will be nearly invisible.

Congratulations Team FairCorn FTF!
