Bertha was originally a Mether and grew up on the farm directly
east of the cemetery on the other side of the highway. She was a
little girl when the largest evergreen trees were planted in the
front yard of that farm. Check out the height of those 100+ year
old trees now! My grandparents later bought the farm, and Bertha
lived with her husband Nathan in the house just west of the
cemetery. Nathan died the year I was born, but I remember Bertha.
She was a good friend of my grandparents.
We are the 3rd and 4th generations of my family to live at the
farm where Bertha grew up.
There is a short driveway at the cemetery for parking. There is
a gate but it is unlocked. Please latch the gate behind you.
Cache container is a flat, plastic, flip-top, about palm-sized

key chain, golf tee.

RAGBRAI XXXV passed by this corner on the way between Denver and
