Geocache Description:

When we first put this cache here there was Welcome To Morton sign. It has since been removed. :( An easy to get to cache on the outskirts of Morton with plenty of parking available. However, please don't block access to the nearby school bus garage. The driveway is used by the buses and also by log trucks exiting the Tubafor Mill.

We've noticed that a lot of towns have "Welcome To" caches and we felt that our home of Morton shouldn't be any different. Morton, founded in 1913 and named after Vice-President Levy Morton is home of the Loggers Jubilee, held each year on the second weekend in August. At 950' elevation, Morton is nestled in a valley alongside the Tilton River between Mt. Rainier National Park and Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument at the junction of SR7 and US Hwy 12. Sevices available to its 1025 residents and the surrounding communities are 3 banks, a credit union, 2 full service grocery stores, a laundromat, shops, restaurants, an airport, 3 mills, and an award winning Ford dealership. It's also home to Morton General Hospital with a 24 hour staffed ER. It is the only hospital between Centralia and Yakima. Also in Morton is Centralia College East which offers advanced educational and training opportunities.
