Geocache Description:

The church is near an elementary school, but the cache is not on school property. Please do not park at the school or trespass on school property while seeking this cache.

Located on the grounds of Sharon United Methodist Church in Poplar Branch. The land for the church was deeded to the trustees of the Methodist Church in 1905. A small buiding called "The Chapel" was built, and an interdemoninational Sunday School was held here until it was taken in to the Methodist Conference in 1926, and the Chapel was officially named Sharon Methodist Church. The Chapel was destroyed by a hurricane in 1944, and in 1947 the existing church was built. When the Ebenezer Church in Aydlett burned in 1952, Sharon Church was expanded to accomodate the growing congregation. The fellowship hall was added in 1971, and a youth center and computer lab was opened in 2007.
