Riverland Rendezvous 2 - Renmark & Paringa Event Cache

An Event Cache in the Riverland

This will be the second Riverland Rendezvous event in the Riverland. Each Riverland Rendezvous event conducted will highlight a different Riverland location.

The Riverland Rendezvous event will be conducted over the Adelaide Cup Long Weekend in March each year.

The 2009 event will be conducted in and around Renmark & Paringa. The event is not only an opportunity for Riverland cachers to meet and greet each other and put faces to names, but also for city cachers who are looking for an excuse to travel to the Riverland for a weekend of caching and would like to join us in having fun!

Registration

Participating cachers should bring a gift which is appropriate to geocaching to the value of $10. Gifts will be awarded at the Geocacher's Dinner. If you are intending to attend the Geocacher's Dinner, payment will be required when registering.

Saturday (day) - Renmark & Paringa

Participating cachers are to meet on Saturday, 7 March 2009 at 11.00am at the above listed co-ordinates. At the listed co-ordinates cachers will receive instructions in order to complete a tour in and around Renmark and Paringa. We will endeavour to email a GPX file which will list the co-ordinates of the temporary caches and virtual cache locations in the week prior to the event.

You will have two hours to complete your tour and then hand in your answers. We will then have a BYO BBQ / picnic lunch.

Following lunch, we will then test your powers of observation and conduct a trivia quiz. This will conclude around 4.00pm to allow everyone sufficient time to freshen up for the dinner.

The "winner" of the Cache Hunt and the Trivia Quiz will be announced at the dinner.

Saturday (night) - Geocachers Dinner

Participating cachers are to meet on Saturday, 7 March 2009 at 6.30pm at the co-ordinates listed for the event.

The winner of the Cache Hunt and Trivia Quiz will be announced. The organisers will also be conducting the inaugural Murray COD (Caches of Distinction) Awards. Voting for these awards will be conducted during the month of February 2009.

Sunday (day) - Chowilla Floodplain CITO

Participating cachers are to meet on Sunday, 8 March 2009 at 10.00am any team wishing to participate in a CITO event, perhaps find a cache or two along the way, on the Chowilla Flood Plain should meet at the listed co-ordinates for the event.

Monday (day) - Caching the Riverland

Participating cachers are free to do what they like! Monday, 9 March 2009 is your time. There are at least 75 caches within a 25 kilometre radius of the listed co-ordinates, so you may like to co-ordinate your own cache raid for the day or visit some of the local attractions.

As each event is listed independently, all you need do is to log which events you will be attending over the weekend.

Accommodation

There are a number of motels and caravan parks in Renmark and Paringa.

There are also numerous National Park camping grounds along the Lyrup Flats approximately mid way between Renmark and Berri.

Given that this will be a long weekend, we would advise that you make confirmed bookings, unless you are prepared to rough it somewhere.
