The Cache to Eagle Series highlight Eagle Scout Projects by boy scouts in the Tecumseh Council. This small cache is placed by a bridge built by a Beavercreek scout and geocacher!
Celebrating Scouting Leadership and Service Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete an extensive service project that he plans, organizes, leads, and manages. On average, each Scout conducts 167 service hours as part of that project. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million* in service to communities across America.
Cache to Eagle is a partnership between Geoscouting, the BSA, and Geocaching.com to highlight Eagle projects across the nation. Through the program, participants set up normal public caches at Eagle project sites that also happen to be good cache spots. Dozens of public caches that showcase these remarkable sites are already posted, and the initial response has been fantastic. Hundreds of people visit the Eagle Scout projects, and many of them write public notes on the logs at Geocaching.com.

I remember working on this bridge for bigdog927's Eagle Project. One of the leaders said I was "hammering wrong," neglecting to realize that I was not a dumb 11 year old scout but an accomplished 16 year old Eagle Scout...but I digress.
It was fun to help out. He brought burritos, that's all I remember! He actually planned and constructed two brdges in the park, but I believe the other is too close to another hide, so I put it by the bridge I helped bulid. It seems to be in disrepair. The bridge structure is fine, but the railing is lacking in the uprightness department on about half of one side. It looked much more impressive when first completed. Because of the chance at possible activity to fix the bridge, I decided against placing it under the bridge. Instead, I choose agood spot 100ft. away. Rehide well! It starts out with many goodies. No pen, sorry! You will cross the bridge if you come straight from the parking lot. THERE IS A TRAIL THE WHOLE WAY! Please refrain from bushwhacking until AFTER crossing the bridge.
This Cache to Eagle geocache will be one of 12 caches hidden within the Tecumseh Council to highlight Eagle Projects. Each cache will have a hidden keyword inside the cache. When you have found all 12 of the caches and can email the cache names and corresponding keywords to the Tecumseh Council Geocaching Coordinators at geoboydfamily@yahoo.com , then you will be eligible to get one of the rare Cache To Eagle Patches shown below. There are a limited amount of these patches - please contact us form more details on obtaining the patch.
UPDATE 7/19/08 - THE BRIDGE IS NOW FIXED!!!!! HOORAY!
I added the coordinates of my trail head as well as those of the bridge so you can see bigdog927's handiwork and get the cache as intended initially!
PLEASE REHIDE AS FOUND OR BETTER! MUGGLES HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE HERE!
