Diddington dawdler: After many, many years, including some successful logs and a lot of could/did not finds, with a heavy heart I'm retiring this cache. Thank you to each and every cacher who have visited this location over the years. Keep on geocaching....but not here! Thank you Diddington Dawdler.

Diddington has been owned by the Thornhill family since 1791, and in earlier days had a grand manor house, school, shop with off license, a public house and 2 cricket teams! Across the fields the hamlet of Boughton in the 1800’s had 9 houses and a population of approx 25, however, Boughton was abandoned many years ago and nothing now remains; only Boughton Lodge Farm with its lovely dovecote continues the name.
The cache is situated in a small wooded area between the village of Diddington and Boughton Lodge Farm reached by a popular grass footpath. Parking available at N52 16.706 W000 14.739 please do not obstruct the narrow village road or villagers parking/gateways. From the parking area walk back up the village and head for the farm yard near to the cream thatched cottage, where you will find a stile and footpath marker which sets you on your way,please note that the footpath skirts around the lake field and NOT the arable/cropped field,and takes you to a small wooden bridge with handrails which leads you into the wooded area. Your view includes Diddington lake and in the distance Gt Paxton and Graveley. The small container holds a logbook and a couple of swops, it may accommodate geo-coins and travel bugs if they are very small. Please take own pen/pencil. Please take care with children/dogs as there are some short sections of an old barbed wire fence in the wooded area. I apologise in advance for the prolific growth of nettles over the past few days!
