One of a series of 8 regular caches on a round walk in the Wormshill and Frinsted area in the beautiful and varied landscape north of the North Downs escarpment. As an added incentive you can also take in two church micros and a red telephone box micro making a round walk of about 6 miles.
Why the Three Rs? It stands for Round Ringlestone Ramble and is a series of regular caches on a six mile round walk starting in Frinsted and passing through Wormshill and Ringlestone, mostly on public footpaths with some short stretches on quiet lanes. Apart from a track called Drake Lane, the paths are not particularly well marked. Navigational skill and a map (Explorer 148) will help. Additional waypoints are included to assist with wayfinding.
The walk takes in woods, farmers fields, flower filled meadows and a couple of picturesque hidden valleys. The area has many “deneholes”, although the route does not actually pass by one. These have a fascinating history, and further details can be found at (visit link)
The whole walk took us about 4 hours including setting the caches.
The church in Frinsted has a small parking area. There is also a highly recommended pub in Ringlestone.
You are looking for a 1l rectangular clip top box. Enjoy the walk.
From cache #7
Follow the path to waypoint 008 where you cross the stile on your left and continue forward at the top of the field keeping the fence on your right. Find cache 8 and enjoy the views!
