Castle Royal is a series of 8 caches in a flat, circular walk of
around 2 miles, starting in Knowl Hill and taking a route around
the Castle Royle golf course (quite why they spell Royal this way I
do not know?)
The paths are varied. At the time of placing some are a little
muddy in places, most are dry and on well packed earth, and others
are quite overgrown with some rather volatile nettles.
Although there are no stiles on route the going is uneven in
places. Buggies best be the 4x4 variety with some strong arms
behind them!
Parking is very limited south of Knowl Green Common, and
although there are a few places where one can pull up on a grass
verge, please do so with great care, and consider the local
residents.
You are looking for screw-top specimen jars, a little larger
than a 35mm canister, containing the logbook and pencil. Please be
sure to screw the canister lids down well so they remain
watertight.
Between caches 4 and 5 you can take in Chalkpit Bridge at
Waltham St.Lawrence (GCY14E).
I hope you enjoy finding these caches.
