Geocache Description:

Family friendly cache placed in a very historical spot.

This is a very family friendly cache located on the grounds of Waterford at All Saints. The cache is full of kid stuff. The cache is located at kid level and should be easy for them to find.

Waterford at All Saints is an active Senior Retirement Community. During the summer months, some of the residents sit outside the front entrance and enjoy the nice weather. They also enjoy watching the comings and goings of the various residents and vistors. They love to have a conversation, so feel free to saunter over, after finding this cache, and say hello. Tell them what you are up to.

"What?" you say---"...generally geocachers are to avoid mugglers at all costs." Not this time. This cache has different rules. The cache location is in plain sight of the residents and many of the residents sitting outside already know where the cache is. Don't worry, you can trust them. At this cache, you can trust the "mugglers" sitting near the entrance, but never trust a muggler under 65 or so.

If you have a young child bring them over to say hello to the residents and have them tell about what they got out of the cache. I have found the younger the kid the more enjoyment the residents get out of visiting with them.

If you do speak to the residents, please mention it when you log your find. The residents will be watching this cache on the internet and would love to "read all about it", if you know what I mean.

I truly hope you have fun with this cache and have some fun with the residents. Its a good chance to learn some history, and get his story or her story from some of the residents. Its also a good chance for someone to listen to your son and get his story, or listen to your daughter and get her story. Trust me, fun will be had by all.

Brief History of Waterford at All Saints: All Saints School was originally built in 1884 as a girl's school with programs through high school. The Episcopalian bishop, at the time, felt young women and girls should be afforded the same education as young men and boys. This was quite progressive in the late 1800s. All Saints School's Main Building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on March 14, 1973. In the early 1990s, the school was unable to keep its doors open. The property was sold to Waterford at All Saints. The structure was renovated and Waterford at All Saints opened its doors in 1996 as one of the premier Retirement Communities in Sioux Falls. The place is full of history and sometimes they give tours.

Other Fun Facts: The grounds have some of the largest specimens of rare trees found in Sioux Falls. In addition, the entire area near this cache is called the All Saints Historical District.

This cache is on private property. People live there so please be respectful. Placed with permission from Kirsta Musser, Director of Life Enrichment/Wellness, and Angie Rabon, Executive Director of Waterford at All Saints.

Have fun...cache on!
