Geocache Description:

The Rockaway River runs through lots of towns in this area, but where it crosses through the small down of Rockaway Borough is where this cache is located. Your biggest problem with finding this one will be to avoid the muggles that are numerous during peak hours. A local eatery has outside seating that is in easy view of this location, so stealth will be needed. A suggestion for best hunting times are either early morning, Sundays, or evenings.

This cache is a sign only, so please bring your own writing implement with you as you find it. There is no room for any trading items (unless you have some really, teeny, tiny items).

We love the town of Rockaway. Besides the many signs declaring, "Morris Canal Crossed Here," there is such a feel of history and stepping into the past on the main street of this town. "Quaint" is a word that comes to mind. Enjoy walking the street and taking in the sights of some of the older buildings.

This particular site of the river is the spot of a big fishing contest on opening day of the fishing season. It is always fun to see the many fisherpeople of the surrounding area, standing in the river in waders, in search of that one big one that will make their day! (and dinner!).

Congratulations to biga800 on his second FTF victory! Well done!
