At the bunker Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs or logged into geocaching.com for some time I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

Just off Wolds Way, in field. On high ground for reasons you will find out in the information pack contained in the cache.

Located near a Royal Observer Corps nuclear bunker. There were over 1500 ROC bunkers in the UK at the height of the cold war. You were never more than 10 miles away from one in the 60's- 70's. A lock lid plastic container. Contains log book and items as well as information on the Royal Observer Corps. Please don't park on the brow of the hill there is a small track where the Wolds Way crosses the road. It is much safer to park here. If you are walking the Wolds Way it is a tiny (200m) detour off but well worth it for the information you will find out.

There is nothing left inside only a few items of furniture click the view gallery to look at some photos.

More and more people are looking inside the bunker please feel free to do so but you must resecure it as there are a lot of these bunkers that have been vandalised. They are part of our heritage and need to be looked after for future generations. Idiots out there seem to enjoy setting them on fire and smashing them up.

This cache has now been replaced. Many thanks for allowing us to take on this cache in such a wonderful location.
