Geocache Description:

The Public park is a large area of open space situated on the east edge of the town centre.

Within the Park is the Donald Fountain designed by Robert Cameron in 1887 and gifted to the town by Provost Donald of Dunfermline.
Also to be found is a bandstand which was presented by Mrs Andrew Carnegie on her first visit to Dunfermline in 1887. Her husband was the Dunfermline-born businessman and philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie (1835-1911).
He founded the Carnegie Steel Co which later became US Steel. He gave much of his money to fund the establishment of many libraries to Scotland, America and around the world.
Whilst in the area take advantage of this large park complete with childrens’s play area and spectacular views over the forth estuary.
