The Tholian Web
Stardate 5693.2
The Enterprise has responded to a distress signal from a sister ship Defiant. Captain Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Chekov beam over to the Defiant to investigate. All aboard are dead and it appears they have killed themselves. McCoy notices that the ship is disappearing and Captain Kirk orders the search team back. But there is a problem with the transporter and only three can be beamed back to the Enterprise. Kirk stays as Scotty tries to fix the malfunction. The Defiant disappears and Kirk with it. Spock surmises that Kirk is between dimensions and then calculates that he will reappear in 2 hours. Unfortunately a Tholian ship appears and orders the Enterprise out of their airspace. Spock convinces the Tholians to give him 1 hour and 53 minutes to retrieve the captain. Unfortunately the arrival of the Tholian ship disrupted space and when the interphase occurs, Captain Kirk is not where he should be. The Tholian ship captain assumes Spock has lied to him and opens fire. The phasers damage the warp drive on the Enterprise. Another Tholian ship appears and together they start spinning an energy web around the Enterprise.
Spock: “Lt. Uhura put me through to the Tholian space ship.”
Lt. Uhura: “All hailing frequencies are open but there is no response sir”.
Spock: “It would appear the Tholian’s have decided we are not to be trusted. If we don’t bring the captain on board and leave before the web is completed, we won’t see home again”
McCoy "Spock when you take command of this ship..."
Spock: “Doctor I AM in command of this ship.”
McCoy: “Well then don’t just stand there, fix the problem.”
Scotty: “Ah, easier said than done. The dilithium crystals are barely functioning. I’m working as fast as I can”
Spock: “I am afraid that isn’t good enough”
McCoy: “How do we recover the captain? We can’t leave without him. Haven’t you got any sense of compassion in that green blood of yours?”
Spock: “Fascinating but I hardly think the color of my blood has anything to do with the situation or its solution doctor.”
Your mission is to restore the warp drive on the Enterprise and focus the tractor beam on the correct interphase where captain Kirk is trapped before the Tholians complete the web.
After completing the mission don’t forget to record the west coordinates for Trouble with Tribbles.
The Tholian Web can be found in Northern Stony Brook Preserve. Other adventures within the preserve include Sourland Treasure GCTZ4J, Rocky GCGM3Y, Kahn the Space Seed GC1CP7Y and Trouble with Tribbles GC1CP9A. Hardships that may be encountered on the mission include mud, PI, thorns and ticks. Keep your phaser on stun.
