Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coords. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars!

This is an RV friendly cache. Semi trucks and large RVs will find easy parking at Parkland Mall to the south of the parking coords.

This ready-to-hide sandwich sized L & L cache was received at Red Deer Geocachers’ Christmas ’07 event and we wanted to do something a little special with it. Local cachers will be able to guess who contributed this gift to the gift exchange! Please rehide it carefully exactly as found.

From the parking coords, walk down the sidewalk along 67 St until you find a path up the hill. Follow a footpath along the top to the posted coords. You should find yourself near a spruce tree with a wonderfully unique view of Red Deer and its extensive “urban forest”. (Take 5 – 10 steps to the west of the tree for the best view.) Allow a few moments to enjoy the scenery.

This is the only spot that we know of where you can see both Gaetz Lakes at the same time (look across the river in a southeasterly direction), and three traffic bridges and the old railway bridge across the river (check to the southwest). Did you know that Red Deer has two water towers?

Now, back to the spruce tree: Without leaving the trail search the tree for two metal tags. They contain the last three digits for the northing and westing of the cache’s location. Now you can find the cache on the way back to your vehicle.

We hope that you enjoy the view and the cache! Don't forget to sign the log!
