How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Carney Island has some new animals who took up residence in the park. New caches were skillfully hidden by Ranger Jeff, Slowpitcher and Mrs. Slowpitcher. New containers are opaque lock top containers easy to find along wide, well kept trails. We even numbered them for you.
Please be kind to the animals by using caution when handling the cache. Stay on the trails. Caches are usually not more than 50 feet from the trail so NO long bushwacking required.
Like any forest hike, bring liquids and mosquito repellant.

Be on the lookout for at least 70 wild turkeys, 30 deer, a family of black bears along with the normal animals found in the forest. Notice the beautiful trees and vegetation. Most hikers see turkeys every trip. Make appropriate comments in your email to the owner. Carney Island administrators will get a copy of all comments at years end.

Summer and winter hours are 7:00 AM -8:00 PM. Gates are locked at other hours. Admission is $5 per car. Be sure to make out the form and put the attachment to the form on your dash. You might also note “geocaching” on the envelope with your amount and license number. I guarantee you will get your monies worth on this hike. In addition, note one of the nicest boat ramps you will ever see and beautiful playgrounds and swimming areas. Carney Island is well maintained by Martha and her crew and Ranger Lonny and his crew. If you see one of them, identify yourself as a geocacher. You will not need their help finding the caches because they are easy finds and the GPS was right on every cache.

The Dinosaur may try to escape her holding pen. If so; Please put her back on the container.
