Geocache Description:

The cache is a camoflaged plastic container 4"x6"x4". It is placed just off the snowmobile trail running along the west side of Surry Mt. From the parking lot it is about 1.9 miles to the cache. There is an unactivated Lighthouse geocoin as a FTF prize.

Surry Mountain stretches four miles north and south. For many years mines yielding small amounts of mica, copper, lead, silver, and gold were operated along the ridge. In the saddle of the mountain slightly north of the village there is a Lily Pond some 750 feet above the valley meadows. Often called a freak of nature, Lily Pond has been measured to be 80 feet deep in places.

On your way to this cache at N43 01.493 W072 18.737 you will find a small open pit mine. The cache is located next to a nice waterfall. It runs very well in the spring with snow melt. If you don't mind bushwhacking you can find the Lily pond by following this stream to it's source. It's about 1/2 mile from the bridge. I don't recomend this bushwhack during the winter without the proper equipment. This could be treacherous with ice snd snow. Hiking up the stream you will see multiple waterfalls and even find a nice hole to take a dip in in the warm weather.
