Geocache Description:

(With this cache, we indulge in a bit of an in-joke with our friend Maingray. We all know that they’re actually alligators.)

A small cache hidden near a very interesting local spot. Folks who visit here between April and November are practically guaranteed a glimpse of our favorite neighborhood reptile - Alligator mississippiensis, aka the American Alligator. We still remember the first time we visited this spot, and we were simply amazed by the sight of these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. Nearly ten years later, we are STILL amazed every time we come here!

Please remember to bring healthy doses of caution and respect with you to this area. Caution: even though you seem to be a safe distance from the alligators, there’s always the chance that an unpredictable situation could quickly unfold. Please keep an eye on all members of your party (including dogs!) and make sure they don’t get too close to the water. Respect: we treat this spot with a certain degree of awe and reverence and hope that you will too. Please respect the sign and don’t feed the alligators. We repeat: don’t feed the alligators! Please also note that other (human) visitors to the area occasionally leave some litter behind - if you come prepared to clean up some of this stuff, the gators will really appreciate it!
