This cache is located on the Eagle Trail in the Windy Hills OSP
(Open Space Preserve) in Portola Valley. No parking is allowed
here, you can park either in the main parking lot on Portola Rd.
(N37 22.552 W122 13.369) or else up on Skyline Blvd. Due to being
in a canyon here and having power lines overhead, your GPS might
take a minute or two to settle down. Just remember, no need to
leave the road.
Remember to check for ticks as there are a lot of deer in this
park.
Please note that some of the top timbers of the retaining wall
(right at the edge of the precipice) are loose; don't walk or sit
on them. There is no need to go that close to the edge, the cache
is NOT over the side of the overhang nor is it on or in any wood.
Also be aware that cars do drive along this section of the "trail",
be sure to watch for them.
The first time Catomcat and I reached this portion of the Eagle
trail we wondered aloud whether or not we were going the right way,
thus the cache name.
Preserve is open dawn until a half hour after sunset, please
only cache during park hours. Park information can be found at:
