Geocache Description:

Just about in the middle of Grant County there is a high hill surrounded by low lying rough and shale land that can be seen for many miles. This is known throughout the county as the Red Hill.
Legend has it that because of its elevation a tribe of Indians once made that secion of the county their headquarters and that one of their chiefs names Waki-i-ta died there.
The present landowner has place a silhouette of Chief Wak-i-ta on top of the hill to honor him.
The town of Wakita situated abnout 6 miles north and 1 1/2 miles west was named for the Chief.
The owner of the land has given us permission to place a cache here but requests that no one trespass onto the land to visit the silhouette. PLEASE HONOR HIS REQUEST. Thank you Randy for allowing this cache to be place here.
This is a 35mm container. PLEASE BRING A PEN.

NOTE: Even though the Chief was destroyed in a tornado, the cache is still in place to be found. Hopefully, the landowner will replace him. I miss seeing him perched on top of the hill on his horse.
