Historic Georgia Geocaching Series #11: Hightower Trail
If you like history, small quaint towns, nature and short hikes through the woods, this is the perfect cache for you! It has all of those elements which make it one of my favorite caches. It is also near several other caches so you can pick up a few caches in one day. Thanks to RFoxx for telling me about the place where the final is located.
This is a short two stage multi. As in all of these caches, it requires that the geocacher read a little history of the area. Stage one will take you to the history you will need to solve the cache.
The final coordinates can be calculated as follows:
Hightower Trail was an old Indian path through the area. In the years:
_ _ _ _ to _ _ _ _
1st year 2nd year
This trail marked the western boundary of the Georgia frontier. The dates may surprise you!
To solve the North coordinates of the final cache final cache,
1st year + 7539 = the last four digits in N 33 3 _ . _ _ _
To solve the West coordinates of the final cache,
2nd year + 2259 = the last four digits in W083 4 _ . _ _ _
The final is a short drive from the first stage. Since the name of the cache is Hightower Trail, it is only appropriate that this cache be located along a trail. It is just a short hike.
