Two miles from Dowdy, Two miles from Pacheco Pig and the camo is too heavy to carry any further!
...as the crow flies, this is 2 miles from where I started and my destination. In reality, it is over 8 miles each way from Dowdy to the Falls, with some serious elevation change.
(On a great Saturday with temperatures in the sixties in late May 2008, I was surprised how few people took advantage of entering Coe from Dowdy Ranch! 2 vehicles with backpackers and myself doing a day hike. I've actually walked-in twice from Highway 152 before the road was open and it's a pleasure to drive it! It's a great spot to start a strenuous hike, but be sure you know EXACTLY where the turnoff from Hwy 152 is. It's not marked! (visit link) )
I thought this road needed a cache to give you something to look forward to between Dowdy Ranch and Willson Tower. ("Respect Coe"...bring lotsa water and go on a cool day!)
