The Falls at Cottonwood Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

North Coast Cacher: Disabled. Just fixed this cache. Looks like it may be on the endangered species listing. Will try to get down that way and check on it hopefully by end-of-month June if not sooner.

Geocache Description:

Small cache to commemorate a beautiful place

There used to be an old bridge that spanned this little river. And there was a mill here. It burned down a couple of times, and the last time it burned down they did not rebuild it. Although if you look around the area, you can spy a rather large millstone coming down the main street towards the bridge. In the early 1900s they built another bridge and for several years, both bridges remained in place. Reluctantly they took the old bridge down and now there is only one again. This bridge is only a foot bridge--closed to all traffic, but you can fish off it, watch the Cottonwood Falls, which are very refreshing. Stop by one of the little local eateries and have a bite to eat before heading out of town. You'll be glad you did. Update: October 26, 2012: Updated coordinates and attributes. Left original cache container in original location. Original hints/clues. Please replace everything as found!! DO NOT venture south side of chain linked fence or into that field of boulders. Cache IS LOCATED along the bridge abuttment. Also raising the difficulty level from original 1.5 to a 2.5. Update: September 07, 2014: Paid a maintenance check and found in open. Cache container (fist sized PILL BOTTLE) should be placed at base of a small crack/joint in the bridge abutment where 2 large rocks are placed side-by-side and looks like concrete was used to join them together (any other cracks are not valid) just large enough for container to fit, basically the only crack/joint present. Also, there should be a HAND SIZED ROCK placed on top of container to help conceal it. Placed GPS on ground to gain better coordinates, but satellites will not lock on for a proper reading, so be prepared to have multiple readings - you have been warned.
