This is the second cache for geofroggerrrrz’s but the first for our NSF project. It is near our main campus.
This cache is part of our exploration of our community. As part of a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant that we a taking part in we thought it would be neat to see how many visitors we might have come to our little spot and leave us a note. This cache will help us determine the movement of cachers into our area. Like most caches it is more for the fun than for hard scientific data. Those pro geocachers my find this funny but our coordinates are based upon an average from coordinates of 5 gps units.
As part of the NSF grant our focus is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Geocaching lets us work with topics such as the nature of radio waves, the earth’s magnetic field, and atomic clock theory. We are also exploring concepts of local geography, botany, zoology, habitat, as well as methods of field observation and data collection. We are working jointly with some St. Louis area schools. This cache is on our technical school’s property near the building that the name clues you to. The cache is placed with full school permission but since this is for school students, please sign the logbook and make sure all items left are school appropriate. Remember that NO WEAPONS and NO ALCOHOL are allowed on school grounds for any reason. All of our campuses are SMOKE FREE.
