Geocache Description:

Prepare yourself for a challenging hike through a little-known greenbelt. While you are here, enjoy the natural beauty of the area, and keep your eyes open for wildlife of all kinds! Do you have what it takes to negotiate the terrain and natural obstacles here? I think you do!

I spent a lot of time out here a few years ago looking for this cache. I always enjoyed the time I spent hiking through this little-known area, but was always frustrated by not being able to find the first stage (log.) After contacting the cache owner about adopting this cache, I met up with him and we did some hunting for that elusive first stage. He confirmed I was right about what it was and where it should have been, but after twenty minutes of searching, neither of us could find anything. However, all the other pieces were exactly where they were supposed to be. After doing a little overall tweaking, this cache is ready to be found again! The first stage is slightly different, but all the other containers and locations are exactly the same. Please contact me if you discover any problems with any of the stages.

Please use caution and common sense when searching for this cache. The terrain here can be dangerous. I wouldn't recommend it for very young children or people with health or mobility issues. In addition, I have seen a number of shotgun cartridges laying around, so please be cautious during hunting season.

N 42° 42.834 W 089° 01.851 is as good a place as any to park your vehicle. To the best of my knowledge, these coordinates are the best point to access the cache from. Please keep in mind that this is the shoulder of State Hwy 51. It is a busy road in a 55 MPH zone. There is plenty of room to pull off, but please be safe. If you don't relish the idea of pulling off on the side of the highway, there are a couple side streets to the north of the cache on the west side of the street that you could possibly park on. Also, Sportsmans Park is just 0.7 miles north, also on the west side of the highway. Of course, both of these options require crossing the highway and walking along it. Whatever option you choose, please be careful!

Good luck, and happy caching!

Original description:
Rough terrain, lots of vegetation and downed trees, steep slippery hills, and loose rock.
This little known greenbelt doesn't see much human activity, perfect for geocaching. Beginning stages are pill bottle/film canister size and well camo'd. Finale container is a camouflaged plastic jar.
A thick tree canopy will make GPS reception difficult.
I didn't want this to be just a walk in the park, so if you have health issues or are unable to negotiate rough terrain you may wish to pass on this one. If you're stealthy, you may see wild turkey or deer. I found a three foot diameter regurgitation pile from an owl! keep your eyes open - you might be amazed at what you may find or see. Do not park in any driveways and park far enough off the road to not be a hazard. Good luck and enjoy.
