Geocache Description:

Auchans Castle


Near to Dundonald Castle cache, linked by excellent footpaths.

I had originally planned on a pair of caches with the Castle theme.
Auchans being the second one. In comparison to Dundonald Castle,
Auchans has been pretty much neglected,twenty plus years ago I
carried out pigeon control in the nearby woods, and at that time
the castle was accessible, fortunately though, it now has a secure
perimeter fence.

Local legend had it that a tunnel connected Auchan Castle with
Dundonald Castle, however the timing doesn't tie up and apparently
Auchan Castle was built with the derelict masonry from Dundonald

friendly.
